Antarctic Jang Bogo Station
Introduction of Jang Bogo
Start at the end of the world

- Jang Bogo, a pioneer from the Unified Silla Dynasty, developed the maritime trade routes in the West Sea, thereby protecting merchants from pirates and facilitating a smooth triangular trade among South Korea, China, and Japan. He is deeply respected by the Korean people until now.
- The second Research station in the Antarctic was named “Antarctic Jang Bogo” after a contest to recognize his pioneering spirit and his spirit in facing challenges. The station is expected to carry on Jang Bogo’s adventurous and pioneering spirit to bravely take challenges in advancing science in the Antarctic and kick-starting new research in undiscovered fields.
